If you are planning to buy a new LCD TV, then you are also ready to buy a new wooden TV stand. There is a variety of sizes, styles, types of wood and colors available to choose from. Your flat screen TV stand will compliment your TV and the room where it is going. Whether you like contemporary or traditional, there is a wide selection for you.

The one area to consider is whether you want a TV stand, a console with hutch, an armoire, or a complete entertainment center. The decision you make may be based on space available, style of furniture already in the room and cost. A flat screen TV stand or console may take up less room. These are also available as a corner TV stand unit, which is great if you do not have much wall space available. A flat screen LCD TV will fit very nicely on these units. The consoles may have shelving or cabinets below to store your electronics.

TV cabinets are a great way to hide your TV while not watching. These larger pieces will often have a pull out shelf that swivels for your viewing pleasure. There may also be cabinets with shelves for all of your entertainment and decorative items. Armoires usually have two doors that open to expose your TV. Whichever of the style you choose to compliment your room always make sure the TV your purchased will fit in or on the unit.

Wooden TV stands come in a variety of wood types. You can purchase 100% solid wood piece of furniture, such as an oak TV stand. These often come in many types and grains of woods to match your furniture. The solid wood TV stands will often cost more money due to their craftsmanship. You can purchase television stands with a veneer finish, which is a thin layer of 100% wood affixed to a structure. These units are also available in a variety of finishes and grains. More moderately priced, these units are available in many styles. The last type of wooden TV stands are a wood composite or pressed wood, these units tend to be more economical.

You may want the traditional look of an antique piece or you may want the look of a contemporary piece. These choices are defiantly based on your likes. You can also purchase TV stands with a combination of wood, glass, and chrome. The costs of wooden TV stands do vary. The 100% wooden unit tends to be more expensive and is considered a piece of furniture, while the wood composites tend to be economical. Hand in hand with being economical, you may be required to assemble the unit.

Searching on-line or at your local stores will give you an idea of styles, colors, sizes, and of course pricing. Whatever your choice is, your new TV deserves to be displayed in style!

You’ve just purchased that magnificent LCD TV and now you need the perfect flat screen TV stand to compliment your new TV and your room decor. You probably researched and checked prices on TV’s long before making such a large purchase. So why not do the same with your stand. Color, style, size, and price will most certainly influence your decision.

You need to determine the style of the room that you are putting your new TV and stand. Is your space modern, traditional, colonial or perhaps an eclectic mix? Do you want to purchase a TV Stand Dresser? By figuring this out, you can now narrow your search for the right flat screen TV stand. This will also influence the style of the stand. If you want storage, you may be interested in a TV cabinet, with doors, to hide any electronics and other related items. You may want a corner TV stand unit as to not take up limited wall space. Corner TV stands are great, but your swivel action may be limited due to space limitations.

You can choose from a variety of wood types and colors. There are modern stands with the sleek chrome and glass as well as more antique looking units with hideaway doors. These TV cabinets will accentuate and blend in with the furniture you have. Many flat screen TV stands give the option of either placing the TV on top with swivel action or mounting the TV on a pole attached to the unit. You can also wall mount the TV and have the stand underneath to house your electronics and home entertainment items.

There are also very unique TV stands available. One such unit looks almost like a ladder! Made of chrome, each shelf is made of safety glass and is a stunning unit. There are other units, which are actually on casters, so you can wheel your TV in and out of the room, making it easy to store when not in use.

The cost for TV stands greatly varies. You can purchase an inexpensive unit for less than two hundred dollars. These units may not be of the best quality, but they will function just as well. There are upscale units, which usually are traditional pieces of furniture that will cost more than six hundred dollars. Modern units or the sharp black wood models will range in price, depending on size and style. Remember, base the size of the TV stand on the size of the TV you have purchased. You should also make sure of any weight requirements as well.

Check out your locals stores and see what they have available. Search on line while you are shopping for your LCD TV and begin to get an idea of what will work for you. Set off your new TV with that perfect flat screen TV stand!

After the introduction of the first television sets, retail stores selling furniture realized that they needed to offer a new piece of furniture. TV stands were attracting the attention of buyers. Consequently, the owners of such stores began to order various versions of this new type of furniture.

If a store wanted to sell TV stands, then it needed to put on display several different types of TV stands. Back then, no retailer gave thought to selling a TV cabinet. At that time, there were no such cabinets. Although there were swivel TV stands and TV Stand Dressers.

Now you should not think that those old swivel TV stands resembled the swivel TV stand that one can find at both brick and mortar and virtual stores today. Those old swivel stands had not been designed to hold a flat screen TV. Back then, no furniture salesperson had ever heard of an LCD TV stand.

The old swivel stand had been designed to hold a television set that was shaped like a cube. In some homes, that swivel stand let homeowners see the advantages of a corner TV stand. That old stand could be placed in the corner of the room and turned in the direction of the person who was viewing it.

Of course those first corner TV stands lacked the storage space that one finds in present day stands. The modern day stands all include some sort of storage space. Today, homeowners want to cover the consoles and players that are used with each TV set. They want to keep the dust off of those devices.

Today, such television stands need to contain some sort of old. That way the cable from the TV, the player or the console can be placed through that hole. Yet one can picture a future in which there will be no such hole in TV furniture. TV stands will then be designed for supporting wireless equipment.

At that time, homeowners will have even more reason to fix a flat screen TV to the wall of a room. Then any players or consoles can be kept in a secure location at a suitable distance from that hanging panel. Those changes could well alter the selections available from any store that has chosen to sell furniture.

TV stands might even become a thing of the past. With all flat panel TVs hanging on walls, there would be no need for such stands.

Today, a grandmother often fears the worst, whenever she sees the hands of a grandchild touch the components on one of the flat panel TV stands in that child’ home. Often, such a stand contains one of more glass panels. Even if a grandmother can keep a grandchild from breaking that glass panel, she still needs to supervise her grandchild’ exploration of that LCD TV stand.

After all, the typical stand contains some sort of cabinet. That TV cabinet has been designed to keep dust off of the players and consoles inside of it. The owner of that cabinet does not want little fingers playing with the contents behind the glass doors of that cabinet.

Perhaps that explains why so many grandmothers encourage their toddlers to sit and watch whatever is playing on the family’ flat screen TV. They pay less attention to the picture that is beaming from the flat panel on top of the TV stand than they do to what might happen during a toddler’ exploration of that same stand.

Yet the sort of program that airs on any TV set can influence the development of a child. It can play a part in determining what role that child might have in the world of the flat panel TV and the new type of television stands. It might push a child closer to the designing of TV stands and away from the need to count on commission from the selling of one or more corner TV stands.

The aforementioned fact should never leave the mind of any grandmother. It should remain in the back of her mind; even as she watches her grandchild place his or her fingers on the various parts of a TV stand in that child’ home. Whether that television stand is wood or metal, whether it is a corner TV stand or one that fits against the wall, the program that beams from the TV screen on top of that stand is just as important as anything that might be on that stand.

At least in the 21st Century, a grandmother can look forward to the time when widespread use of wireless technology will eliminate all the wires and gadgets now associated with most TV sets. This writer can remember the time that her own mother complained about all the wires around the shelves that held one of two TVs in her home. This writer listened to that complaint during a time well before the introduction of flat panel TV stands.

This writer, one of many baby boomers, can recall the large and cube like television sets that used to sit on the old wood TV stands. I can remember the swivel wood stand on which my family once had its single TV. I wonder what happened to that particular TV stand.

I have not forgotten the day when a young man from the local high school came to my home to take away the family’s old television set. He and the other students in his high school class would be taking that set apart, and studying its contents. That was a time long before the creation of LCD TV.

I imagine that the same fellow, now an adult, now lives in a home with many TVs and many different TV stands. He no doubt keeps his players and consoles in a TV cabinet, so that they do not become covered in dust. This writer finds it difficult to believe that the grown student has two corner TV stands, but he must certainly have in his home at least two or three different television stands.

If he has a swivel stand, then that stand bears no resemblance to the wooden swivel stand that was in the home of my parents. The new swivel stands are designed to hold a flat screen TV. The wood stands of today, too, differ quite a bit from the old wooden stand that this writer remembers.

The wooden television stands in retail stores today have a style that matches with the style of classic furniture. Those stands are made from oak, cherry, pine, black wood and white wood. An online shopper can even find a corner TV stand that is made out of wood.

Despite the growing demand for LCD TVs, there remain a number of homes that have a television with a plasma display panel. Moreover, one can still find homes in which the family sits around a rear projection television. Thus, any maker of stands for all those different TVs must satisfy a range of diverse needs. At the same time, the maker of such stands realizes that not every homeowner has taken a liking to modern furniture. Some homeowners want to fill their dwellings with classic furniture. Still, those same homeowners do not care to go without a TV set. That fact explains the steady growth in sales of the wood TV stands or oak TV stand.

Back some sixty plus years ago, after television sets first appeared in retail stores, the term “classic TV stand furniture” had no meaning. Up until then no home owner had ever purchased a television, let alone a stand for that same TV. Today, however, furniture stores display both classic and modern TV stands. These include the good old Oak TV Stands.

In the past, a TV stand or TV stand dressers held an object that had a cubicle shape. The old television sat out, away from the wall. Today, television stands no longer serve as the base for such cube-like objects. Rather, a growing number of such stands end up under a flat screen TV.

Before the introduction of LCD TV, the idea of a flat TV screen seemed like an impossible dream. The old television technology ruled out the possible development of such a screen. The introduction of liquid crystal technology changed the picture. It allowed TV viewers to experience the magnificent picture that comes onto a screen with liquid crystal display.

The maker of the corner TV stand must have looked with horror at those first advertisements for the new flat screen television sets. Who would want a corner stand when a television set could be placed up against, or hung on a wall? However, the introduction of TV sets with flat viewing screens did not lead to the abandonment of interest in corner TV stands or oak TV stand.

By the same token, the growing demand for television sets that come equipped with the latest technology has not pushed consumers away from the popular TV cabinet. Consumers realize that a cabinet can keep the dust off of the players and consoles that sit below, above or beside the modern day TV. In addition, a number of cabinets include racks for the storage of what goes into certain players–collection of discs, each of which contains an exciting movie.

In fact, the availability of DVD players and the opportunity to watch a movie of choice at home represents another big development in the world of TV viewing. Some fifty five years ago, no home had more than one television set. Yet today many homes have two or more TVs. That way, one member of the household can watch a football game while another person in the same household can enjoy a favorite movie.

Because society has seen a widespread proliferation of TV sets, it has also witnessed a steady interest in all types of TV stand furniture.
