What Used to Sit on Wood TV Stands or Oak TV Stands

This writer, one of many baby boomers, can recall the large and cube like television sets that used to sit on the old wood TV stands. I can remember the swivel wood stand on which my family once had its single TV. I wonder what happened to that particular TV stand.

I have not forgotten the day when a young man from the local high school came to my home to take away the family’s old television set. He and the other students in his high school class would be taking that set apart, and studying its contents. That was a time long before the creation of LCD TV.

I imagine that the same fellow, now an adult, now lives in a home with many TVs and many different TV stands. He no doubt keeps his players and consoles in a TV cabinet, so that they do not become covered in dust. This writer finds it difficult to believe that the grown student has two corner TV stands, but he must certainly have in his home at least two or three different television stands.

If he has a swivel stand, then that stand bears no resemblance to the wooden swivel stand that was in the home of my parents. The new swivel stands are designed to hold a flat screen TV. The wood stands of today, too, differ quite a bit from the old wooden stand that this writer remembers.

The wooden television stands in retail stores today have a style that matches with the style of classic furniture. Those stands are made from oak, cherry, pine, black wood and white wood. An online shopper can even find a corner TV stand that is made out of wood.

Despite the growing demand for LCD TVs, there remain a number of homes that have a television with a plasma display panel. Moreover, one can still find homes in which the family sits around a rear projection television. Thus, any maker of stands for all those different TVs must satisfy a range of diverse needs. At the same time, the maker of such stands realizes that not every homeowner has taken a liking to modern furniture. Some homeowners want to fill their dwellings with classic furniture. Still, those same homeowners do not care to go without a TV set. That fact explains the steady growth in sales of the wood TV stands or oak TV stand.
